"Chosen for their quality of their cuvées, their passion for their products, their attachment to their terroir and their focus in business, these are women with a lot of bottle. - Louise Hurren, Sud de France" Asked "Does being a women have any bearing on winemaking?" - Catherine replied: "The wine industry has been dominated by men for many years, but more women are coming to the fore and being recognised for the quality of their wines. Today there are many professional female wine tasters and buyers carving a niche for themselves in this male-dominated industry." In a Women & Wine survey carried out from January - March 2009, women in the UK buy 8 out of every 10 bottles of wine consumed at home. The study also shows that women lead the way in wine knowledge and wine purchasing. |
